Cece Caldwell Brand rep project #1 ~ boring dresser turned fall fabulous

For my first project as a Cece Caldwell rep I chose this solid wood but so BORING dresser. It just had nothing standing out but had lots of storage and well made. Time for a reloving.
I anxiously waited my first shipment and here is what arrived, so exciting
Savannah praline stain + finish in one
Michigan Pine natural chalk + clay paint
flat matte finish
and an added bonus .. the not even released at the time, metallic waxin Bauxite Beige

so now to come up with a vision.. first all repairs, sanding, a good hand scrub with brushes, soap & TSP followed by a good hose down so all products adhere without any surprise oil marks and provide a clean smooth surface
to give the boring dresser some pizzazz I affixed wood appliques on the top drawer front

and as usual there are always repairs required as you go along, repairs bring the piece back to new condition
time to begin the paint process, Michigan pine was applied over the existing base coat of soft yellow which inspired the fall colori…

Home Right "spray it pretty" FFFC challenge

When The Fab Furniture Flippin Contest posted the most recent contest I had to jump on board, actually as the 1st in line, that is a first :) This month's theme is called "spray it pretty".

I LOVE the Home Right fine finish sprayer and always want to learn more with it. For now I use it to prime large pieces like this solid oak dining table. It cuts priming with a brush time in half and gets in all the hard to reach nooks and crannies.

nice oak table, good detailing but in need of a makeover The biggest feature is there is no air compressor required, just this handy dandy easy to hold with one hand machine.
Here it is after first coat, all you need is paint and an extension cord
the 2nd coat of primer applied and left to dry
Once your piece is done (I did 2 coats on this dining table) it is time to clean up. Surprisingly it is not that hard but I choose only to use water based products in it so I can do it all in my garage sink.
there is a cleaning kit included too wh…

cleaning tip

So I love Pinterest.. growing up I had folders and binders and stacks of recipes, articles from magazines and pictures and this is my dream organization. I am also a HUGE reuse, repurpose, recycle gal so love the ideas it shares for many of these things.

As many of you know though, not everything that is posted works as well for others. I saw a post to use old dryer sheets to clean base boards but for me they did not do anything. I could not just throw them out. I decided to try them in my bathroom sink to clean as they have a bit of texture even after many runs thru the dryer.

Sure enough, a little water and the sink scrubbed clean. They work awesome even dry to shine up the faucets and taps. As a last wipe, I use them around the toilet bowl then toss. I feel so much better when an item has performed many duties and used to its fullest potential before tossing in our ever crowed landfills. Give it a try! ;)
