Walnut MCM Dresser with Warm White Accents

I am a huge wood grain fan and when I find MCM pieces which usually are walnut wood I am thrilled to give them an update. This 6 drawer dresser did not disappoint. The warm white and wood combo is always a favorite of mine. How about you?

New Farmhouse Planked Table Top Build Part 1

I picked up this table quite awhile ago liking the simple classic styling, unfortunately the Hamilton & Spill counter height table did not come with the original extra leaves which leaves the center split and loads of extenders underneath. I decided this would be a great option to plank the top so off to the lumber store to get some wood.

And seeing I only had the car that day I just made do.. just careful not to make any sudden stops on the hour drive home. The table top required 1- 1"X12"X6', 2- 1"X10"X6' and 4- 1"X4"X6' pieces of good pine and 1# of 1 1/4" screws.

Originally we thought to cover the existing but after laying out we decided to take the original top off, build a new top and give it more surface size using the full length of the 6 foot boards.

Using the trusty Kreg jig we secured each board to the next for a nice fitting solid top, and yes we used the Kreg mini!!

To get some of the hard to reach areas it was easiest if I sat on the top of the table top and firmly held down the jig while the screws were set in place.

This is a peek at what a neat and tidy connection the Kreg jig makes on the underside

The top was now complete moving on to adding an edge all around with a layout similar to below

For the edges we ripped 2 of the narrow boards in half

The test layout with the ripped boards for the edges and the base set in place looked great, now to secure the edges on

All the edges were then connected securely with the jig making this gorgeous solid farmhouse plank table top

All the edges were sanded smooth during the build process and again when all together including the entire top. It is now ready to move on to the painting and assembling steps. Be sure to see the finished table here.

** THANKS to my husband for his help on this table build **
