Milk Painted Dining Table in Homestead House Confederate Grey

I purchased yet another outdated orange stained pedestal dining table that needed TLC.

When you work alone and need an assistant you have to think outside the box ;0) The leg is longer then an arm right?

For this table I went with Homestead House Milk Paint in Confederate grey. I used it on this jumbo chalkboard too.

After a good scrub, power sand to smooth the surface and a wipe down it was time to paint.

Two coats of the dark grey milk paint applied with my angled sash Zibra brush, which cut easily into the corners gave the table a gorgeous new look.

But I did not stop here, a light sanding to take down the milk paint to a smooth buttery soft surface

then apply Fusion Mineral Paint discontinued antiquing tough coat. It is just like their clear tough coat but as you can see, tinted with brown. This added warmth to the cool grey tone of the milk paint as well as providing a layer of sealed durability.

To add even more interest and dimension, Fusion Mineral Paint's clear glaze mix…

Old Fashioned Milk Paint cosmic coffee table

Inspiration is everywhere and I am inspired to try some blending. Why not try it with Old Fashioned Milk Paint? I picked up a very simple styled coffee table that would be perfect to try it on. I chose pitch black, driftwood and federal blue for this look.

TIP~ Did you know that once opened, milk paint will last indefinitely if stored in glass containers? I peel off the label and cut the color swatch off the bag and use packing tape to affix to my recycled glass salsa jars.

To set the stage, the table was cleaned well and sanded smooth.

Then it was time to let the fun begin.

I wanted to try with all the colors wet but not sure this was the best method.

Once it finally dried I added more colors to the blended top colors.

The base was painted 2 coats of pitch black. I used pitch black in the safe paint formula so it would adhere well. Did you know safe paint can be used for walls??

good bye old orange stain color!

Seeing coffee tables are well used I sealed the paint with 2 coats of poly and then for a bit more dimension and depth I put a coat of wax mixed with pewter shimmer paint. More cosmic love.
