Ebony and Grey Dining Table

There are so many well loved but out dated stained dining tables just waiting to be reloved. I took this oval wood medium stained one and gave it an updated look in shades of grey.

The top had typical wear and tear but after a good sanding of 40 - 80- 120 grit sanding paper the finish was gone and the wood bare.

The perfect canvas for Homestead House's new stain and finishing oil all in one in ebony. I went with 3 coats letting each one dry overnight and given a light sanding of 220 between coats.

This was a lovely dark black stain but I decided to take it further with various shades of Fusion Mineral Paint.

I dry brushed Fusion Mineral Paint soapstone first followed by ash then coal black and all with the same chip brush. How easy is that?

While those layered dried I painted the base and table skirt Fusion Mineral Paint little lamb, a soft universal grey.

While the brush was still wet I dry brushed this on the top as well.

More rustic benches, 3 new styles

The original rustic bench post had so much interest I had my carpenter create 3 more, each a different style and size. Again I went with Old Fashioned Milk Paint, the perfect paint for raw wood and blending.

Style center brace was painted inOld Fashioned Milk Paint  sea green, tavern green : federal blue 50/50, and soldier blue

Style solid front edge was painted  Old Fashioned Milk Paint sea green, driftwood and buttermilk

Style cross corner was painted in Old Fashioned Milk Paint sea green, tavern green : federal blue 50/50, and oyster white

All were sealed with Varathane polycrylic, two of them with the outdoor variety as they were custom done for a deck and were detailed with Daddy Van's black wax.

left just poly and right is with black wax and below the finished look after buffing and drying

Milk Painted Kids Table Set

How adorable are little kids table and chairs sets? They are so much fun to relove for 1- you can do in fun colors, 2- they are the perfect size to try a new product on and 3 - they are so popular. This set came to me unfinished with just crayon marks needing removing.

A good sanding took the crayon off and gave the wood surface a fresh new start. I went with CeCe Caldwell paint stain and finish all in one in Beechnut Gray for the top. Four coats were applied with a fine grit sanding in between each coat.

The base was finished in two coats of milk paint for a soft water color look finish. The first coat was Miss Mustard Seed milk paint in Eulalie's sky and the second coat was Homestead House Paint Co. in Loyalist.

to get in the wee areas that show just from the top I love to use fine artist brushes

Once dry, a light sanding over all the painted areas with a sanding sponge then 2 coats of poly to seal the paint up was applied by brush. All done ready to be staged and here it is b…

Cream & Dark Wax Color Combination Love

I love cream and dark wax color combination, like my recent antique dresser or vintage vanity
I recently did a few home decor pieces with Fusion Mineral Paint's champlain and limestone with their espresso wax

this long shelf with drawers, oval tin, cabinet door, lazy Susan, little spice rack and salt & pepper set

and since there was a wee bit in both paint jars left I did a few mason jars

mid paint progress and complete

I added Fusion Mineral Paintmetallics to give some sparkle

Crackle medium was used on the tray and Fusion's fresco on the spice rack for texture
