Green and Floral Round Tray Makeover

This round tray has been completely reimagined. Its original shabby chic white finish has been updated to a rich dark green, and a delicate floral rice paper adds a touch of elegance. A final layer of dark wax deepens the colour and accentuates the details, giving it a beautifully aged, vintage feel.

Don’t Toss It, Paint It! The Ultimate Knife Block Refresh

Don’t toss out perfectly good items just because their color doesn't fit your space anymore! A sturdy piece with great utility deserves a second life. With just a fresh coat of paint, you can take a functional home staple—like this wooden knife block—and transform it into a sleek accent piece that looks custom-built for your kitchen, saving money while keeping great items out of the landfill.

We’ve all had those trusty home items: structurally solid, endlessly useful, but completely out of sync with our current decor. Instead of replacing something that works perfectly, a simple color swap is often all it takes to bridge the gap between function and style. Today, I’m sharing how a quick paint makeover saved this wooden knife block, giving it a modern upgrade while keeping its everyday purpose right where it belongs—on the countertop.

Years ago I gave this wooden knife block a paint makeover. My middle daughter decided to change up the color to a rich green to match her new apartment.

She chose acadia from the Dixie Belle silk mineral paint line after giving it a good clean with spray white lightning cleaner to be sure no residual kitchen grease was on the surface.

Then using a small square synthetic brush she applied 2 coats about 6 hours apart.

Silk paint has a built in top coat making is an easy 1 step paint. Once it was dry a light paper bag sanding was all that was needed to complete this easy color update kitchen project.

I have used this color on these pieces in the past.
