From Dated to Designer: The Secretary Desk Refresh

This transformation takes a dated, two-tone secretary desk and turns it into a sophisticated, modern statement piece. By trading the aged pink and cream for a uniform, soft neutral, the beautiful French provincial lines of the piece truly get to shine. From Dated to Designer: The Secretary Desk Refresh This project is a perfect example of how a monochromatic color palette can completely change the "vibe" of furniture. Miss Mustard Seed milk paint ~ Eulalie's Sky dresser

Milk paint and antiques go hand in hand in my opinion, I just so happen to have a great antique dresser and a new Miss Mustard Seed milk paint color I am dying to try, Eulalie's Sky.

I love a paint and stain combo so first step was to sand down the top and all drawer fronts to bare wood then scrubbed well. Scrubbing well is a HUGE step to success when refinishing.

I went with thinner coats but you can see the coverage between 1 and two here, I chose to put 4 thinner coats in total on the base

the bare wood was conditioned and stained in 2 colors ending with a dark walnut

This was my first time using Miss Mustard Seeds hemp oil and I have to say I loved how easily it went on and the depth it adds to the stain and the wood.. both photos show the oil on the left side. I waited 30 minutes and wiped off then repeated in two hours as per bottle instructions

I scrubbed and polished the original hardware and added two new ceramic knobs to the top drawers and once all was dry, reassembled and this is the end result

*Disclosure

I have received product in exchange for this post, but ALL the opinions are entirely MY own.  This post contains a sponsored link for Miss Mustard Seed Milk Paint
