Walnut MCM Dresser with Warm White Accents

I am a huge wood grain fan and when I find MCM pieces which usually are walnut wood I am thrilled to give them an update. This 6 drawer dresser did not disappoint. The warm white and wood combo is always a favorite of mine. How about you?

Fusion roll top desk

When I brought this antique replica roll top desk home, my youngest daughter called it for her birthday gift. She chose a creamy white exterior and her favorite mint for the interior. With these choices in mind I selected Fusion Mineral paint in Champlain and Laurentien.

but before color could be added I took the entire piece apart to make repairs and scrub well.

once dry, I reassembled the bottom and started applying the color with 2 coats of  Fusion Mineral paint champlain on all the exterior all sides including the under edge - I think it gives a more finished look

the same thing with the inside pieces with the minty laurentien green from Fusion Mineral paint with all hardware removed and cleaned then applied after 2 coats and distressing the edges

In keeping with the vintage look I wanted to add depth to the warm white paint so chose Homestead House dark wax in espresso, shown below on the roll top you can see how it adds depth and dimension and age too.

then all was reassembled and here it is

the original velvet lining is a darker teal, perfect right?

  1. Looks like a LOT of work, but it turned out great. I really like the soft aqua blue on the inside with the white on the outside. Nice job!
