House & Canvas's antique teal is the perfect color for this vintage jewelry box
I have not come across a jewelry box styled like this to date but was excited to relove it as it has loads of storage, actual wood and a lovely white lining that goes with any color.
I chose antique teal!
The lining in the top section was loose so after I carefully removed it and cleaned the jewelry box well to start. I used
Fusion Mineral Paint in plaster to hand paint below the side edges for a seamless look once it is glued back in.
Time to paint the teal.
2 coats of teal went on and once dry it was sanded smooth and the edges distressed. To seal the chalk paint, I chose
Fusion Mineral Paint clear wax then added their
ageing wax to the edges and nooks and crannies to bring out the details.
The top lining was carefully put back in with glue on the underside and clamped into place followed by the mirror in the hinged top door.
The etched glass pieces were given my favorite signature faux mercury glass finish using Krylon Looking Glass spray and vinegar for an antiqued look that goes so well with the rustic farmhouse feel of the jewelry box.
All sides finished makes it a pretty stand alone piece of art for the dressing room.
