Walnut MCM Dresser with Warm White Accents

I am a huge wood grain fan and when I find MCM pieces which usually are walnut wood I am thrilled to give them an update. This 6 drawer dresser did not disappoint. The warm white and wood combo is always a favorite of mine. How about you?

Antique Fold Down Table in American Honey Gel Stain

This antique table has been refinished in Dixie Belle Paint's newest Dixie Belle No Pain Gel Stain color called American honey. The base is done in a warm creamy white called endless shore from Dixie Belle silk mineral paint.

Unfortunately I did not take a before photo as I was thinking it just needed a good scrub before taking to my Dad's place. This is my Mom's quick photo in the trailer on route. Turns out it was in really rough shape with old table cloth flocking stuck to the top and moldy patches in the chippy old finish.

First step; deep scrub with warm water and Dixie Belle white lightning cleaner, scrub with brushes on all sides and in every nook and cranny then rinse well with clean water. Allow to dry fully.

Once dry I hauled the table outside and power sanded the top to bare wood.

Harley my shop assistant supervised the sanding process.

To sand the base I flipped the table over and removed the legs and base from the top.

Now each piece has better access to all surfaces.

Table legs show allot of wear and tear over the years.

The legs were sanded smooth on all sides to remove the old flaking finish and bring back to bare wood.

Then the top was taken back out and given a few more sanding steps with 2 finer grit papers. I also sanded the underside of the table to clean up the wood.

I was excited to use the latest color released in the Dixie Belle No Pain Gel Stain line called American honey. I used the Dixie Belle applicator pad to apply it. Two coats were applied 6 hours apart then left to dry for 72 hours.

The base was painted in a favorite warm white called endless shore in the Dixie Belle silk mineral paint line brushed on with the small oval Dixie Belle synthetic brush.

This brush is the perfect size for the edges and curvy legs. Two coats were applied with 4 hour dry time between coats.

When dry the top was flipped over again and the base screwed back in place.

The legs were put on and flipped back over, taadaa!!

To seal the gel stain and provide a durable surface Dixie Belle Gator Hide was applied with a damp Dixie Belle applicator sponge. This leaves a smooth finish. 5 coats were applied but only because I found a couple Harley hairs after 3 so sanded and added 2 more ;)

To age the base brown Dixie Belle's best dang wax was brushed in the crevices and edges with a dedicated Dixie Belle premium chip brush perfect for getting in these areas.
