Classic Black Antique China Cabinet

Does anyone have china dishes anymore? Is it still a thing? Years ago, when I got married, it was all about picking your china pattern and creating a gift registry for the pieces you needed. My pattern was called Chelsea by Royal Doulton, and it was a soft muted floral.

IKEA Table to Desk HACK

IKEA dining tables make the perfect minimalist desks. I have done a few in the past and loved creating them for this purpose. All past ones were done in white including this one. My daughter wanted hers done in classic black.

This is the IKEA table after a good scrubbing with Dixie Belle white lightning cleaner, rinsed and dried.

To give the paint something to adhere to as well as smooth any areas that need it the entire table was scuff sanded with a fine RAD pad by SurfPrep. Then all was wiped with a damp cloth to remove any sanding dust.

Using my favorite 2" mini Dixie Belle synthetic brush I applied Dixie Belle silk mineral paint in the rich black called anchor. After the first coat dried I lightly sanded using a Dixie Belle sanding sponge which makes the paint buttery smooth. This was followed by a second coat.

Anchor is such a classic color, see these other projects I used it on.

You can see the second coat drying behind my husband working on his bison skull projects.

Here it is in my daughters new apartment with all her computer goodies on it. Perfect she says.
