DIY Furniture Flip: Refinished Solid Maple Dresser in Classic White

In this tutorial, I’m sharing how I completely transformed a   solid maple, Canadian-made dresser   into a fresh, modern piece that’s both timeless and functional. Originally a tired chest of drawers, this sturdy maple beauty got a full makeover — from sanding and priming to a   crisp classic white finish   and   new stainless steel bar and knob hardware . The result? A clean, elegant dresser with   five easy-glide drawers   that looks right at home in any bedroom, guest room, or entryway. Homestead House Milk Paint Prairie Sunset


I have tried a few brands of milk paint but recently was given the opportunity to try Homestead House Milk Paint. Homestead House is, an almost 30 year old, Canadian paint company whose milk paint line is the only one manufactured here in Canada. They also make Miss Mustard Seed's milk paint line as well. Milk paint in a naturally green choice in painting with NO VOCs, organic and biodegradable.


They have a wide variety of colors, mostly all historic and heritage based. For this project I chose, prairie sunset, a lovely shade of yellow to relove this old accent table.

Two coats of milk paint were the perfect coverage and to keep it looking vintage, I chose antiquing tough coat, the perfect choice for a durable yet aged look sealer.

    What a wonderful shade of yellow, and nice finish too! I did not know Homestead House made MMS. Love the staging with the teal glass the colors really compliment each other. Thanks for sharing at Fridays Furniture Fix.
