Classic Black Antique China Cabinet

Does anyone have china dishes anymore? Is it still a thing? Years ago, when I got married, it was all about picking your china pattern and creating a gift registry for the pieces you needed. My pattern was called Chelsea by Royal Doulton, and it was a soft muted floral.

Fusion ash ~ little lamb hutch

I have had a wood hutch staring at me everyday in my studio for some time now, it has begged to be painted Fusion Mineral Paint's ash so finally it got its day of glory. Ash is a lovely charcoal color.

Like all my reloved pieces, it had hardware removed, the glass pieces & backing too and given a good scrub. This is key to paint adhesion and smooth application. I wanted to update the hardware too so old holes were filled.

I tested the Fusion Mineral Paint ash on the hutch far right side, perfect

the coat of ash went on perfectly on the whole body including doors which I removed for better coverage

Now to add definition to the details, I tried the new black wax but it was not quite dark enough so went with a wash of black glaze over the entire piece.

With the details now popping I gave it a dry over night

For the backing, I chose Fusion Mineral Paint's Little Lamb to brighten the inside but keep the whole piece a neutral modern feel.

New silver knobs added to this modern vibe as well.
