Sweet little jewelry chest after above and before below. Isn't it perfect for a little Valentine?
I purchased it at a thrift store and inside the drawers were this little wood cubes, any idea what they are for?
I also have a
Jolie Paint color called rose quartz; a soft pink which I adore. You can see other rose quartz projects
HERE.
The body of the chest was painted one coat of white and drawers a coat of rose quartz to start.
But as the pieces dried a wood tannin bleed thru giving a yellowish tone.
No worries,
Zinsser
Bull’s Eye spray shellac will fix that. A few light coats were sprayed over the entire piece and when dry a fresh coat of each color was brushed on.
To add a bit of whimsy to the piece, the rose quartz color was stenciled over the white on the chest's body.
Using a
tiny artist brush, the white was painted on the little wooden knobs on the drawers.
The jewelry chest was lightly
sponge sanded to smooth and distress the edges and soften the stencil pattern for a worn aged look.
To add a bit more dimension and interest to the piece,
white wax was rubbed all over catching in the wood grain.
It is now ready to add charm and prettiness to someone's home.
It would also be the perfect Valentine's gift for a sweet little girl.
