Smooth-gliding feet have been added for effortless movement across both hardwood and carpet. Measuring 34" W x 17.5" D x 40.5" H, this sophisticated piece offers both function and timeless style—an instant statement in any well-appointed room.

DIY Wooden Desk Top

My eldest daughter needed a desktop for her workspace at her SugarMe body sugaring studio. She found a laminated pine project panel that fit perfectly—it just needed to be stained to match the black base of the desk. As luck would have it, her mother is quite experienced with that kind of work.

The board was lightly sanded with a sanding block along the edges to be sure it was super smooth.

My favorite oil staining product, Fusion stain and finishing oil (use this link to get 10% off your order) in ebony was applied with a blue shop towel. I did the one side first then flipped once dry and did the other side.

A second coat was applied to the side I decided was the top surface.

Seeing the top may get allot of use being in a business as the payment counter, I applied 2 coats of Varathane Professional Clear Finish Satin for additional durability.

In between coats of all the layers, the dried product was sanded smooth with a Gator 220 sanding sponge.

All dry and ready to be installed.

Video tour of the finish.

The edges of the desk were cleaned and the board set in place to see what it will look like, perfect.

To affix it to the top of the desk, my husband ran a bead of construction adhesive around the top edge.

Once the adhesive bead was done with lifted the top and carefully set it in place.

The excess that squished out the edges was wiped right away and then heavy plants were set on top to provide weight to keep the top flat to the desk edge while it dried.

And that was it, SugarMe body sugaring studio now has a functioning desk top for clients to set their purse, purchases etc while they make payment.

Big thanks to Fusion Mineral Paint for sponsoring the staining product used in this post.
