Walnut MCM Dresser with Warm White Accents

I am a huge wood grain fan and when I find MCM pieces which usually are walnut wood I am thrilled to give them an update. This 6 drawer dresser did not disappoint. The warm white and wood combo is always a favorite of mine. How about you?

Clay Painted Tulip Vase

I love giving vases a new one of a kind look, let me share my tulip vase creation.
Here are many other vases I have given a one of a kind updates to from metallic to concrete.

I love these tulip vases that Costco has every spring and after buying so many years I have a surplus of them. The newest one shown in the back had a base added that gave me an idea how to jazz the vases up.

Using painters tape I marked off the line I wanted to make.

Painting on glass requires this step to make sure all your hard work does not scratch off, trust me I can tell you I know this from experience. You may read older posts where I did not do this step not knowing better but now I do.

Apply 2 coats of Dixie Belle Slick Stick with a Dixie Belle premium chip brush and let dry well overnight.

The colors I chose for the vase base were moon beam and prairie dawn from the new Dixie Belle Terra Clay Paint collection.

I started with prairie dawn the warmer white stippling it all over the primer. The whiter moon beam was stippled over this coat when dry with some of the warmer stippled with it when wet. This achieved a mottled color but still kept it neutral and subtle.

To seal the clay based paint I brushed on a couple coats of Dixie Belle satin clear coat with my 2" mini Dixie Belle synthetic brush. The painters tape was removed and the vase dried.

but this just seemed a bit to boring even for my simple classic style.

I pondered adding magnolia Dixie Belle transfer, or one of these cute Dixie Belle stencils but chose the lovely floral Dixie Belle silk screen stencil from the delicate lace collection.

These are the perfect stencils for a round surface as they "stick" and lay smoothly down.

To add another light tone to the paint layers below I chose saltwater Dixie Belle silk mineral paint.

Remove the stencil, wait a bit and place on the other side matching up patterns. Wash the stencil when done as soon as possible. They are good to reuse up to 10 times or so if cleaned right away.

Much better, right?
