Classic Black Antique China Cabinet

Does anyone have china dishes anymore? Is it still a thing? Years ago, when I got married, it was all about picking your china pattern and creating a gift registry for the pieces you needed. My pattern was called Chelsea by Royal Doulton, and it was a soft muted floral.

Bold Floral Transfer End Table

This little table has undergone a stunning transformation for the second time! Originally revamped for my daughter as a nightstand in one of her rental places, it now boasts a bold new floral transfer over a classic black finish. The vibrant floral design adds a fresh, eye-catching element, making it a standout piece once again. 🌸🖤

The first makeover I did for my eldest daughter was a purple with dark glaze added to match her rental bedroom years ago. Seeing she no longer needed it, it was a perfect time to give it a fun update and get it back in service.

The table was cleaned well with white lightning cleaner that now comes premixed in a spray bottle.

I wanted to use the newly released My Favorite Bouquet Dixie Belle transfer with this purple top.

To freshen up the base it was lightly scuff sanded, then a coat of caviar Dixie Belle Paint. I like to start with tables flipped upside down to get the underside edges painted and have good access to all sides of the legs.

Then flip the table over and it is time to address the top. I decided I did not like the two tone color block so painted the edges but that did not appeal to me either.

So the top was scuff sanded, wiped and painted a couple coats of anchor Dixie Belle silk mineral paint.

I used 1/2 of the floral Dixie Belle transfer. Place the desired transfer down with backing removed and rub onto the table top. The other half needs to line up matching the pattern. I leave the backing on until it is in the exact position then slowly peel backwards and rub it into place as well.

NOTE - overlap the pieces a couple mms as it will shrink back.

To seal the transfer in place I brushed on 2 coats of satin clear coat with a 2" synthetic brush. This was followed by 2 coats of Gator Hide with the same washed brush.

DO NOT apply Gator Hide directly over transfers as they will repel and curl edges.

The base was given a coat of anchor Dixie Belle silk mineral paint to match the top.
