This repurposed refrigerator trailer in the background is where I store my stock furniture for painting. Over the years, the roof has developed a few leaks. Despite my husband’s efforts to seal them, the repairs haven’t held up well. Thankfully, Dap Ultra clear flexible sealant came to the rescue!
The 53 foot long trailer is insulated with a hardwood floor making it a great storage unit. We originally purchased it to store our household furniture in while moving and it just stuck around and makes a great place to keep storing furniture.
He started by using a wire wheel on a power grinder to clean up all the seams.
Here is his power tool he used with the wire wheel attachment.
Here is the roof before he started.
He did this on all seams, around the roof edges
A closeup to see how the wire wheel removes old sealant or glue from the past.
Then he did across all the horizontal seams. Above a before and after close up as well.
This photo trio shows the first horizontal seam and the front edge seam, before, during
and after sealing with the Dap Ultra clear flexible sealant - in the caulking gun you see Dap Alex Plus silicone which was in the gun already so he used before putting in the clear tubes. Alex dries clear as well but goes on white.
This is the roof with all seams wire wheeled and sealed. It took 6 tubes in total to do this 425 sq foot area. It should be good to go for many more years of storage.
