Refinished Solid Oak Queen Headboard – Classic Black with Rattan & Elegant Details

This stunning queen-size headboard is a true statement piece, crafted from solid oak and beautifully refinished in a rich, classic black. It features gracefully curving finials, intricate oval cartouche accents, and a striking inset rattan panel that adds texture and timeless appeal. Finished with a smooth satin clear coat for durability and a subtle sheen, this headboard blends traditional charm with modern sophistication.

Western Themed Wooden Bread Box

This wooden bread box was in great condition, but it definitely needed a little extra flair. The rustic pine wood gave it a western vibe, and I just so happened to have the perfect transfers to give it a fun, western-inspired update.

Step one is to clean it really well inside and out with spray cleaner and a damp rag.

The original finish was in pretty good condition minus the front edge. I decided to keep the rustic western look of this finish and pair it with the sweet mane bouquet transfer set.

The front edge had seen some sort of wear so it was lightly sanded with a sanding sponge. Wiped clean of all dust.

Then it was restained pine with a one step stain and finishing oil applied with a blue shop towel.

The transfer pieces were cut out, laid out in the desired placement then burnished into place. These transfers can be layered as well. The last flower for this side is moved around to find where it should go.

Then rubbed in place, perfect.

as well as the other side.

On the roll down door I was undecided as to the above or below design. I put a poll out on my Facebook page ...

and the floral alone was unanimously voted yes. Here it is going on.

Transfers are best sealed to protect them, especially since this piece may be wiped being used in a kitchen. I used a 2" synthetic brush to apply satin clear coat. Two coats were applied all over all sides.
