Turquoise Magazine Rack

Where are my turquoise fans? Here is the sweetest solid maple magazine ready for you!

Magazine racks are a fun way to add a small punch of color to a room. This solid maple cutie was built to last but the finish was starting to wear. All it needs is a fresh coat of paint.

Rustoleum's Chalked ultra matte paint in turquoise would be the perfect color.

After a good scrub with Simple Green cleaner and a damp cloth, it was ready to get painting.

Using my small round Cling On Brush R16 which worked well to get in all the narrow places the turquoise was brushed on. Brushing paint on takes time and patience with these tight small spaces so don't rush.

Above is the first coat of turquoise chalked paint on dry. Two coats were put on in total for great coverage.

To distress lightly and smooth the brush stokes, I used a SurfPrep rad pad. These pads are so flexible which works great to mold around these spindles easily. They come in a variety of grits too. This yellow one is super fine.

To save a bit of time and seal this chalk type paint I used Rustoleum 2X ultra cover spray paint in clear matte as it can easily reach all the nooks and crannies. Multiple thin coats were sprayed on before a hand rubbed white wax over all surfaces to soften the sheen and add a wee bit of white in the recessed areas.
