Vintage High Chair in Natural Wood and Warm White

I love giving old pieces new life. This vintage wooden high chair was my latest makeover project. I am loving the end look, how about you? This solid wood cutie was found by my furniture scouting sister. I messaged the seller sight unseen I would take it. My Mom picked it up and delivered to my door. THANKS family for all your help!

Classic Growth Rulers for Christmas

Two growth rulers were custom ordered for Christmas. They were both ordered in the classic medium stain with warm white markings.

It was a real task finding wood in the pandemic. The prices continue to skyrocket from the usual $6 to now $13 a board for the cheapest stuff and this size in oak was $115!!! for one board! The next challenge is finding straight or non cracked or chunks missing from edges ones in the piles. After hitting 3 lumber stores and finally at the last one finding stock we had to wait over and hour for them to get the lift down but I did get 5 boards in the end.

After they were had the wax scraped off the ends and sanded the areas needing wood filler were addressed. Once dry all were sanded again and wiped ready to stain. I really like Varathane's aged wood accelerator.

Both sides had one coat applied ...

with the tops getting two coats once the first dried. The stain was lightly sanded between and after coats with a Dixie Belle sanding sponge.

The ruler marks were stenciled on using Muddaritaville Studio growth ruler stencilstop by Muddaritaville with this link for 10% off your stencil order.

The markings were stenciled with endless shore from Dixie Belle silk paint line.

Both were done the same. Check out this further customized ruler using magnolia transfers.

Using another Dixie Belle sanding sponge the markings were lightly sanded followed by a couple coats of Dixie Belle satin clear coat  applied with the wide narrow Dixie Belle scarlet brush that makes easy work of the sealing coat with almost no brush marks. Again both sides were sealed with the back just getting 1 coat.

And they are complete!!

These are a popular color choice but you can see other combinations HERE
