Antique Fold Down Sides Accent Table Restore

  This stunning antique drop leaf table is both functional and full of charm, the fold-down edges that make it ideal for smaller spaces while providing extra surface area when needed. Measuring 30”W x 22”D x 24”H, it’s the perfect versatile piece. The top has been beautifully refinished in a rich walnut stain, complemented by a warm white milk-painted base. Light distressing and dark wax enhance its vintage appeal, preserving its timeless character. A lined drawer, finished with elegant damask paper, adds a lovely touch of detail and practicality. I love pewter and wooden jewelry boxes so when I saw this cutie I had to buy it.


The divided neutral colored interior is perfect to store treasures in.


I chose a royal rich purple called aubergine from Dixie Belle Paint. After two coats were brushed on the paint was sealed with clear Dixie Belle's best dang wax.


Next the carved grooves were highlighted with silver Dixie Belle gemstone mousse using a small artist brush. Applying the clear Dixie Belle's best dang wax allows the mousse to be wiped away easily if it goes out of the areas you want it with a damp cloth.


To add even more charm, the piece of the lace Dixie Belle transfer was added to the inside on the lift up top. The purple paint was not sealed on the inside top lid until after the transfer was applied. Clear wax then sealed both paint and transfer.


And the makeover is complete after the inside was vacuumed out with my handy hand held vacuum.

    I have Aubergi e and have never used it but I am now. The lace transfer looks so good with this color. Thank you for sharing and inspiring.
