Classic Black Antique China Cabinet

Does anyone have china dishes anymore? Is it still a thing? Years ago, when I got married, it was all about picking your china pattern and creating a gift registry for the pieces you needed. My pattern was called Chelsea by Royal Doulton, and it was a soft muted floral.

Limed Oak Dresser and Tri-Fold Mirror in Fusion's Seaside

This jumbo oak dresser had to be staged in the garage just before it set off to its new home.

It was transformed from plain and simple with great bones and solid build into a one of a kind stunning rich blue limed oak beauty.

Seeing it was in excellent condition coming from a seniors estate sale all it required was a good cleaning to prepare the wood for paint.

Seaside; a gorgeous blue from  Fusion Mineral Paint was the color chosen. It is such a pretty blue.

Fusion Mineral Paint is highly pigmented and over this medium stain it only required one and a half coats. (the half was for touch ups anywhere it may need a bit more)

The customer originally wanted a light but colored look for the dresser. I was going with white wax but created this sample stick to see the other shades of  Fusion Mineral Paint waxes.

Ever wondered the difference in white waxes? Here is both Miss Mustard Seed's white wax and Homestead House white wax side by side, MMS is a tad more yellow based.

Here is the Homestead House white wax on the top drawer, it brings out the oak grain perfectly and below on the dresser side.

and on the top, this looks like high end limed oak for sure

A test drawer was done to decide on distressing but I chose to keep it more modern redoing the drawer to  solid paint.

The original pulls were an aged gold look which went nicely with the paint color. Of course they can be easily swapped out in the future if the buyer prefers.

The only repair was the shallow top drawer; it is felt lined for jewelry perhaps? The buyer has a watch collection he will use it for.

This drawer bottom just needed to be power tacked securely back in place and everything is good to go on the dresser base.

Moving on to the large solid oak tri fold mirror

The mirror was covered with paper before painting.

front and back were painted one coat of the lovely seaside paint.
The white wax was applied hand rubbing into the oak grain.

Creative Moments Tip of the Day :

My OCD brain came up with a way to smooth and tidy the underside edges of the mirror with soft flocked backed orbital sandpaper, genius!!

I love how perfectly the white wax brought out the limed oak grain look.
