Modernized Pine Dresser in Gray

If you're a fan of clear coat pine, this makeover might not be your cup of tea. But for those who love breathing new life into old furniture, I hope this tutorial sparks some inspiration! The original clear pine finish has aged over the years, and the tall dresser has endured its fair share of wear and tear. With a little care, attention, and a fresh new color, it now serves a new purpose with renewed charm.

Mud Cloth Magazine Rack

Why have a plain boring wooden magazine rack when you can give it a one of a kind look?

This solid wood magazine rack's first step was to take apart and scrub well with Dixie Belle white lightening cleaner to ensure a clean surface.

To give the paint something to grip seeing the surface is so smooth every side was lightly sanded with a fine grit RAD pad by SurfPrep. Then everything was wiped to get all sanding dust removed.

All the pieces are now ready to be painted.

I chose Baja grey from the Dixie Belle silk paint line applied with the lovely Dixie Belle scarlet brush. This wide flat brush applies the silk paint smoothly and evenly and quickly. All sides were painted to completely cover.

Now to add the one of a kind personality using the mudcloth Dixie Belle stencil. I chose Dixie Belle silk paint in wharf; a deep grey to use as the stencil color applied with a 3/4" stencil brush.

Mudcloth and tiles are the newest DixieBelle stencils. Also in this order is the new Dixie Belle Thingamagig and Dixie Belle clean as a whistle brush cleaner

Again using the fine grit RAD pad by SurfPrep I went over all the stenciled areas to give a lightly worn effect.

The new silk line has a built in top coat so no further sealing steps were needed. The pieces were reassembled and the rack was back in working order.
