Vintage Art Deco China Cabinet Restore

This Art Deco waterfall china cabinet, circa 1940, had seen better days. Tucked away in a shop and used as a storage shelf, it was in rough shape. A family member, inspired by a photo featuring rich navy tones and warm wood, wanted to see it brought back to life. With that vision in mind, I gave the piece the repairs and makeover it deserved — blending classic navy with warm wood to honor both its history and a fresh new style.

Coal Black Pepper Grinder with White Wax

Here is my score from a thrift store, click here to see the tall jewelry box and here for the wood & metal trunk makeovers

This solid wood and stainless steel pepper grinder from Cole & Mason was in fantastic shape but really need a punch of color or in this case the absence of color as I chose black, Fusion Mineral paints coal black to be exact.

Two coats of black were applied, each coat brushed in a different direction to create a cross hatch pattern. This adds texture to the grinder as well and for a bit of additional pizzaz I wiped on Miss Mustard Seed's white wax which caught nicely in the cross hatch pattern and softened the black.
