Classic Black Antique China Cabinet

Does anyone have china dishes anymore? Is it still a thing? Years ago, when I got married, it was all about picking your china pattern and creating a gift registry for the pieces you needed. My pattern was called Chelsea by Royal Doulton, and it was a soft muted floral.

Vintage Jewelry Box - Green Turquoise and Gold

Time for another jewelry box makeover, this one was given a fun update in soft green, bold blue and highlights of gold.

This vintage jewelry box begged to have some color added as it sat lonely on the thrift store shelf. I took it home, cleaned it up well and set out to make it pretty.
I chose Fusion Mineral Paint in laurentien for the outside and azure for inside the doors.
To start I removed the metal hardware and cleaned the piece well.

Two coats of each color went on then all was lightly sanded smooth and the edges distressed with a sponge sanding block.

To add some pizzazz I applied a discontinued Fusion Mineral Paint product called gold gilding paste. (little tub shown above)

It is easy to apply with a fingertip and looked so lovely with the gold mesh in the doors.

The gilding paste did make it hard to photograph as it catches in the light but in person it is subtle and sophisticated.

The azure is the perfect color to compliment and pop against the soft laurentien.

There is loads of storage in this vintage beauty. I love to share lots of pictures and there is a video view at the bottom as well.
