Follow me as I take 2 French Provincial solid wood tables, one with a light oak finish and the other with a glossy dark finish and give them a coordinating updated look.
I always start with a good cleaning to make sure the piece is cleaned thoroughly. The narrow legs are easily lifted off the table using my plastic paint pyramids

One coat was all it took rolled on the top flat surfaces and left to dry over night.
The first coat also will reveal when the original factory clear coat had drip marks. These need to be sanded now then painted over.
The last of the original wood finish as the pretty grey paint goes on.
Here is the first coat of little lamb, the pieces are now "matching".
For the second coat of little lamb I swapped brushed to the
Fusion 2' wide angled brush. This lovely synthetic brush is perfect for a faster smooth second coat application.
Two coats of each color on top and bottom are now ready for some more dimension and rustic charm. Edges were lightly sanded on the base as well once dry.
Then the top was given additional durability and dimension using
Homestead House's ebony stain and oil finish. This beautiful finish is applied with a lint free cloth like their hemp oil and wiped to remove access after a few minutes.
On the light grey paint,
Fusion's black wax was applied to give a more rustic feel to it and a cohesive farmhouse feel to the now "matching" set. The original drawer hardware was cleaned and put back on. Tadaaa!
