Walnut MCM Dresser with Warm White Accents

I am a huge wood grain fan and when I find MCM pieces which usually are walnut wood I am thrilled to give them an update. This 6 drawer dresser did not disappoint. The warm white and wood combo is always a favorite of mine. How about you?

Farmhouse White Dining Table

Where are my farmhouse style fans?? This dining table is just for you.

As soon as I saw this table I saw white farmhouse; those chunky carved legs and thick wood top, yes!

My first step after a good cleaning was to try and strip the top finish off with a chemical stripper. This factory type finish did not react well to it or lift off as easily as most finishes. The finish had to be removed with my orbital sander and various sandpaper grits. Be sure to wipe your sanding dust often as you go. Change grits from 120 - 180 -220 till your wood is silky smooth.

The base is going to be painted in Valspar furniture paint from Lowe's Canada in the color du jour.

It would be easier to paint the base without the top on so it was removed. Using a sandpaper pad I scuff sanded the entire base to give the paint something to grip to. Then wipe well to remove sanding dust again.

I also lifted the legs off the ground using my paint pyramids for ease of painting the legs.

Here is one coat on.

The coats go on quite sheer, here is coat 2 started.

and a third coat

and finally a 4th coat.

Now to work on the table top, it was was brought into my home for this portion to work on as the weather was really hot and the products I was using on the top are very in home user friendly.

Dixie Belle Voodoo Gel Stain is the product of choice and the color is white magic. I applied it using a soft applicator pad.

Squirt the stain on the table and wipe in the direction of the grain with the pad. Above is one coat.

The first coat was not quite enough coverage for the look I wanted so a second coat of Dixie Belle Voodoo Gel Stain was applied, this time I added the color up in smoke; a grey along with the white magic. Watch the video below to see it in action.

The added grey gives dimension to the top and adds a bit more color to the all white table.

A third coat of Dixie Belle Voodoo Gel Stain in white magic was applied this coat misted with water for a more washed look.

To seal the top well 4 coats of Dixie Belle satin clear coat were applied using a dampened applicator sponge again going with the grain and allowing to dry well between coats.

And the table is complete, transformed into the perfect farmhouse style dining table.

And here are the chairs that were painted to match. Isn't the set lovely?
