Modernized Pine Dresser in Gray

If you're a fan of clear coat pine, this makeover might not be your cup of tea. But for those who love breathing new life into old furniture, I hope this tutorial sparks some inspiration! The original clear pine finish has aged over the years, and the tall dresser has endured its fair share of wear and tear. With a little care, attention, and a fresh new color, it now serves a new purpose with renewed charm.

Dark Stain and Yellow Milk Paint Step Stool

I run milk paint classes and the perfect project is this IKEA solid wood step stool.
Milk paint loves solid wood!

First step is to assemble the stool, I have left the step tops off to stain with Homestead House's stain and finishing oil all in one in cappuccino. This rich dark stain goes on so well on the natural wood. I applied 2 coats lightly sanding between and after the coats dried overnight.

Homestead House Milk Paint in prairie sunset, the perfect fall yellow was mixed up and brushed on, again using 2 coats.

To seal the milk paint I used a clear matte poly which deepens the yellow color .

Add the stained step tops and it is complete!
