This solid wood IKEA stool has been given a worn weathered finish using black milk paint.
I teach "learn to paint a stool with milk paint" classes. This class is the perfect opportunity to learn about milk paint from the start to finish; mixing, painting, sanding, sealing. If you are local and interested in learning shoot me an email for details on the next class.
I assemble all the stools prior to class. Below is a semi private class ready to go with socially distanced paint stations.
Classic black always will be in style. Once dry the entire stool was sanded with the edges distressed as well. Fusion Hemp Oil is the perfect sealer for this dark color as it deepens it to an even richer color and absorbs into the raw wood sealing the milk paint in. I let it soak in, wipe excess off with a blue shop towel then repeated the process the following day.
About a week later, for an additional durability I hand rubbed Fusion Furniture
Wax in black on the step tops.
I am such a fan of this worn weathered finish, how about you?
The size of this step stool makes it very functional.
Below are the 2 gals who recently took my milk paint course. They too chose classic colors for their stools all from the Homestead House milk paint line. Well done ladies!
My new shop assistant Harley is loving these classes. She is a cane corso puppy I rescued to keep me company while working from home.
