From Gilded to Grounded: A Standing Jewelry Armoire's Dark Moody Transformation
Sometimes, a "bright and airy" makeover just doesn’t fit the vibe. I found this standing jewelry armoire after it had already been given a white and gold facelift by someone else, but it felt a bit too "glam" for many people. I knew it had the potential to be something much more sophisticated, mysterious, and—of course— moody . In this tutorial, I’m taking you through the process of retaining some of the previous DIY and layering on a deep, velvety dark green finish. We’ll be leaning into those shadows, highlighting the unique curved silhouette. Whether you're looking to tone down a piece that's "too bright" or you're ready to embrace the dark academia aesthetic, here is how I turned a high-contrast piece into a seamless, moody masterpiece.

That is a pretty shade of green. I have a boutique near my home that sells Dixie Belle paint so I am going to look for that color. Thanks so much for sharing. #HomeMattersParty
ReplyDeleteThank you Donna, I would not have ordered it as I am not a real green fan unless in the blue zone but I actually really loved it once it dried. Enjoy what ever you paint in it!! Thanks for hosting!
DeleteHmmm.. I'm intrigued by this paint. I've used Fusion Mineral and The Chippy Barn but haven't used Dixie Belle yet. Looks like a great paint to work with - I'll definitely consider it for my next project. (viewed through Follow the Yellow Brick Home link party)
ReplyDeleteHi Jenn, try Dixie Belle, it is one of my favorite. I like Fusion too but this is real chalk paint so very different in comparison (except if you try their new silk line that is similar to Fusion) cheers!
DeleteDo you ha e to prime with this? Also, did you use a finishing pad on it after? I just bought this paint and am a total newbie!
DeleteHi Nicole, you do NOT have to prime using Dixie Belle's new silk line, it has a built in primer and top coat. It leaves a nice matte finish. Please search silk paint at the top and you will see other projects I have used it on with lots more details :)
