No Strip or Sand Stained Dining Chairs

I wanted new dining chairs for my own home to go with our antique Duncan Phyfe style dining table  I restored. Previously we had leather parson's chairs but I have always loved the look of wooden pressback chairs so this is what I chose to replace them with. And I am going to stain them WITHOUT stripping and sanding! I had 2 sets of press back chairs in my stock to paint, now to decide which set. My husband and I did a comfort sitting test and of course visual and went with the slightly larger ones on the left. This set also has 2 captains chairs as a bonus.

Mandala Lazy Susan

I LOVE MANDALAS... as you may have guessed by my recent post on stenciling one on my deck, this sweet geometric coffee table, this cute round coffee table, this sweet lazy susan and atop these saddle stools.

I knew this black lazy susan would look perfect with an ombre mandala stencil.

It was scrubbed up clean ready for paint.

I went with a mandala stencil from Muddaritaville Studio, the same one I used on the stool tops.

Be sure to stop by Muddaritaville with this link for 10% off your stencil order.

Using a small stencil brush I applied Fusion Mineral Paint little lamb in the center, then putty and finally picket fence on the outside

Check out this past post for stenciling tips.

However once the stencil was removed I did not care for the putty with the other 2 colors.

So I put the stencil back in place

and blended the little lamb and picket fence to get a middle tone and stenciled it over the putty.

PERFECT!!

    1. thank you for the kind words, it seems I missed sharing the final step, I used clear wax to add a layer of protection over the stencil :)
