Stenciled Deck Rug

We built our new house in the middle of a prairie hay field. This means we have a ton of wind at least until all our planted trees mature in about 10 years!! I have always wanted a beautiful deck with a pretty rug but unless it was nailed down and was pet hair proof it is not going to happen. I can however have a painted/stenciled one. Here is how I did it ... Using this large prosperity mandala stencil from Cutting Edge Stencils  and Fusion Mineral Paint I created the rug of my dreams. Like any painted project, prep is needed.. first step was to sweep and scrub my deck where I planed to put the new "rug". New Faux Tin Tile Pattern and Color Series

Another collection of faux tin tiles in the making. Did you see the previous set in dark shades of grey?

This collection is going to be lighter shades. The dark grey embossing paste was the same though but it is a new tile pattern stencil.

I love the more swirly look of this stencil.  The first full coverage color is Cece Caldwell paint's parchment. See it on a cute corner cabinet here.

Layers of color went on next including House & Canvas angora white, Fusion Mineral Paint's little lamb and FAT paint in robin's egg blue added to two of the 3. (above right)

After all layers dried,  Daddy Vans orange scented clear wax was brushed on to seal all the layers.

A silver glaze was brushed over once the wax dried

Then to make the raised embossing pop, Daddy Vans cafe noir wax (shadow black was added to the grey tile) was brushed on to give detail and dimension.

And here is the latest tiles available on my Etsy page
